what we are about
Phil had just moved up from Los Angeles, and Jenna was returning home from the University of Arizona. They married in 2008, have three amazing kids, and have served in ministry across Florida, California, and Washington State. Both hold master's degrees from Southeastern University and bring 20 years of full-time ministry experience.
Phil's passion is preaching the Gospel, both locally and globally. He is excited about what Jesus will do in Tacoma and the surrounding communities. Jenna, genuine and loyal, loves her family and friends deeply. She is committed to living a life that represents God well and dreams of a life-giving church that loves and leads like Jesus.
God has graciously revealed Himself in creation and through His Son, the incarnate Word. He has also disclosed Himself through the Scriptures, which consist of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. These writings, inspired by God, are authoritative, without error, and sufficient for all that we must believe and do. Though our understanding is limited by sin, the Spirit enables us to know God's truth truly. The Bible is to be believed, obeyed, and trusted, equipping us as disciples and witnesses to the gospel, revealing the True Story of the world.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 // 2 Peter 1:20–21 // 1 John 1:1–2
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three divine Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who glorify one another. This perfect and holy God is the Creator of all things and worthy of all worship. He is eternal, all-knowing, and sovereign, sustaining and ruling over all. In His grace, He works to redeem a people for Himself and restore creation, all for His glory.
Deuteronomy 6:4 // Matthew 3:16–17 // Matthew 28:19 // 1 Peter 1:1–2 // John 10:29–30 // 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe that the eternal Son became human out of love and obedience, fully God and fully man. Jesus, the promised Messiah, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, was crucified, rose on the third day, and ascended to heaven. As our Mediator, He is seated at God's right hand, exercising sovereignty and serving as our High Priest and Advocate. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He acted as our representative, canceled sin, defeated death, and reconciled believers to God. Salvation is found only in Him, and no one can boast before Him.
John 1:14 // Matthew 1:18 // 2 Corinthians 5:21 // 1 Timothy 2:5 // Matthew 28:18 // John 14:1–3
We need reconciliation with God. Adam's rebellion distorted God's image and brought corruption to all humanity, affecting every part of our being. As a result, we are alienated from God and condemned to death unless He intervenes. Our greatest need is to be reconciled with God, under whose just wrath we stand. Our only hope is His undeserved love, which can rescue and restore us. Humanity's rebellion also disordered creation, though its structures remain fundamentally good but misdirected by sin.
Genesis 3:1–7 // Romans 5:12, 19 // Romans 8:20–22
We believe that Christ, through His obedience and death, fully paid the debt of all who are justified. He bore the punishment for our sins and satisfied God's justice on our behalf. Through His perfect obedience, credited to those who trust in Him, we are accepted by God. This justification is solely by grace, for God's glory in saving sinners. We have no righteousness of our own, and from this free justification flows a desire for personal and public obedience.
Romans 3:21–31 // Titus 2:11–14 // 2 Corinthians 5:21 // Genesis 15:6
We believe that salvation, secured by Christ, is applied to His people by the Holy Spirit. Sent by the Father and Son, the Spirit glorifies Christ and is present with believers. He convicts the world of sin and gives new life to spiritually dead sinners, leading them to repentance and faith. Through the Spirit, believers are united with Christ, justified by grace through faith, renewed, sanctified, and adopted into God's family. The Spirit indwells, guides, equips, and empowers believers, serving as the down payment of their promised inheritance.
Ezekiel 36:25–27 // John 14:16–17 // 1 Corinthians 12:1–11
We believe the Holy Spirit gives gifts to the church, including wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, and interpretation. These gifts are distributed individually according to grace and faith, as the Spirit wills, and should be desired in ways that most benefit the church. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—should be cultivated as evidence of a Spirit-filled life.
1 Corinthians 12:7–11 // Galatians 5:22-23
We believe that those saved by grace through union with Christ and regeneration by the Spirit enter God’s kingdom and receive the blessings of the new covenant: forgiveness of sins, inward transformation, and hope of future glory. Good works are evidence of saving grace. Believers, as salt and light in the world, should engage with it while maintaining distinctiveness, doing good to all, especially fellow believers. God's kingdom, present but not fully realized, redeems individuals and creates a new community under God’s sovereignty, opposing Satan’s dark kingdom through repentance and faith.

Each local church is God’s household and a foundation of truth. The church is Christ’s body, deeply loved and forever connected to Him, defined by its message, practices, mission, and love for God, each other, and the world. The gospel shapes both individual lives and the community, uniting believers and reconciling them to God through Christ. The church represents God’s kingdom and is a witness to His presence in the world.
Ephesians 2:14-16, 19-22 // Matthew 28:18–20 // John 13:34
We believe that water baptism, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, is an outward sign of an inward transformation, symbolizing our death to sin and resurrection to new life in Christ. Likewise, the Lord's supper, with broken bread and the juice of the vine, represents Christ’s sacrifice—His body broken and His blood shed. This ordinance bridges the time between Calvary and Christ's return, reminding us to partake with sincere self-examination, love, and forgiveness, so none participate unworthily.
Matt. 28:19 // Rom. 6:4 // 1 Cor. 11:24, 25
We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent. He will descend from Heaven with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God. At this unknown hour, the dead in Christ will rise, and the redeemed who are alive will be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air, where they will remain with Him forever. Since no one knows the time of His return, we should live each day as if He could come at any moment. However, in obedience to His command to "Occupy till I come," we must continue spreading the gospel and building the church diligently, as if His return may not happen in our lifetime.
